Severn River Publishing (“SRP,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses personal information to provide our books, services, and programs. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and disclose it, and your choices. It applies to our websites and services that link to this policy.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we collect:
- Contact and account details: your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and account information.
- Orders and customer service information: purchases, cart activity, discounts, returns, and communications with us. Payment providers process payment details; we do not store full payment-card numbers.
- Preferences and participation: preferred genres and formats, email subscriptions, program requests, and responses to our forms.
- Creator and submission information: social account links and information you provide for our First Look Book Influencer Program, or materials and professional details submitted for publishing consideration.
- Usage information: IP address, device and browser information, pages visited, referral sources, and interactions with our emails, links, and advertising. We may use this information to understand your interests.
We receive information directly from you, automatically through our services, and from platforms and service providers that support our business, including lead-generation forms on social media.
How we use information
We use information to fulfill orders and requests; provide customer service; manage accounts, subscriptions, and programs; evaluate submissions; send relevant book news and offers; measure and improve our services and advertising; prevent fraud; and meet legal obligations.
For example, we use genre and format preferences to tailor book emails and offers. For our First Look Book Influencer Program, we use the information you provide to manage participation and identify relevant opportunities.
How we disclose information
We disclose information to providers that help us run our business, including ecommerce, payment, fulfillment, email, hosting, analytics, advertising, and business-service providers. Shopify supports our online store, and Klaviyo supports our email marketing and signup forms. Our Shopify integration also sends order and customer information to Klaviyo, which can include purchased items, order totals, and billing and shipping details.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business.
We do not provide our subscriber list to authors or other companies for their own independent marketing. We use service providers and advertising platforms to support SRP’s own communications and advertising, including audience matching and reaching people with similar interests. We do not sell personal information for money. Disclosing information to advertising partners may qualify as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under certain privacy laws, even when no money changes hands.
Email and program choices
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent necessary messages about an order or a request you have made.
Our forms explain the emails or program you are signing up for. Contact us if you need help changing your preferences.
Cookies and advertising
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the website, understand activity, and measure and personalize advertising. This includes measuring visits, newsletter signups, and clicks to retailers and audiobook services. These technologies may collect information about your activity over time and across websites.
We may work with advertising platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, and other advertising partners to measure campaign performance, show relevant ads, reach people who have interacted with us, and find audiences with similar interests. This may involve sharing contact identifiers, such as a hashed email address, and information about website or advertising interactions, subject to applicable law and consent requirements.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some website features. Email unsubscribe settings and browser cookie settings serve different purposes; changing one does not necessarily change the other.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights to access, receive a copy of, correct, or delete personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information.

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed to provide our services, maintain our records, and honor your choices.
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Publishing submissions
We use submission materials and related information to evaluate publishing opportunities and communicate with submitters. International visitors
SRP is based in the United States. We serve readers in the United States and internationally, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and Australia. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws from your country.
Children
Our services and marketing are intended for adults. We do not intentionally recruit people under 18 for our newsletter or programs, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us.
Other websites
Our website links to retailers, social platforms, and other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
