Reaping the Whirlwind

Reaping the Whirlwind

In the waning months of World War II, triumph in Europe collides with rising dread in the Pacific—and the fate of one family is bound to the final, violent sweep of history.

As victory parades sweep across Allied cities, the Littlefield family faces the fractured reality left behind. In the ruins of Germany, Zack navigates a hostile occupation. Lance, newly freed from captivity, guides a vulnerable group across collapsing Nazi territory. And on Sark Island, their family endures hunger and isolation, waiting for word from sons and daughters scattered by war.

Still at Bletchley Park, Claire shifts from German codes to Japanese intercepts, learning the grim truth behind the planned invasion of Japan. In the Pacific, Josh, scarred by captivity, joins MacArthur’s staff as projections of catastrophic casualties darken every strategy. Meanwhile Jeremy, flying Mosquitos out of British India, presses on with the relentless air war over Burma and Malaya while longing to return to France and Amélie.

Across oceans and continents, world leaders maneuver toward the war’s final act—even as a secret test in the New Mexico desert ushers in a new and terrifying era.

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Lee Jackson comes Reaping the Whirlwind, an epic and gripping installment in the After Dunkirk series, where global conflict and family courage collide in the final months of World War II.
